1) The Keith Haring Journals - a great insight into the life and art of a renowned, creative artist as told by himself, beginning in 1978 though his death in 1990. Packed with funny stories, insightful wit and tons of artwork.
2) Sidewalk Stories - A critically praised but criminally unseen silent movie produced, directed and starring Charles Lane. Made in 1989, this black and white, beautifully filmed feature tells the story of a homeless man (Lane) who discovers an infant in gritty NYC and tries to locate it's parents. Impossible to find in any format, you can catch it on Youtube.
3) Le Freak by Nile Rodgers - His autobiography. Need I say more?
Listening to:
4) Anything by Chic.
5) Anything by Duran Duran. Yes, anything by Duran Duran. Don't front, if you were a Friday Night Video watching teen in the 80's, you dug them.
6) Debbie Harry's album Koo Koo - I don't think it was well received when it was released in 1980. But it did have a funky single "Backfire". Heavy rotation on my iPod.
Also on my people ignoring device:
7) Solid Ground by Eman and Doc Link - They always come correct with serious dance floor jams! I do wish Eric "Eman" Clark would return to singing more, that talking over tracks is way past played out. Although it IS motivational, I'm just saying...
8) Meet Me Underground by Sterling Ensemble feat. Mario Inchausti ( Christain Prommer mix) - Great dance music anthem!
9) Arnold Jarvis' new album Just Say It - Great dance music from beginning to end! and...
10) Let Me Love You by Rasoul - Dance tune I first heard in dance music documentary Maestro. LOVE THIS SONG!
Anyway 'til next time...
