The music world was dealt a serious blow with the passing of Mr. Garry Shider today. Born in plainfield, N.J. in 1953, Mr. Shider grew up singing gospel and playing guitar. As a teen he befriended George Clinton, future leader of Parliament/Funkadelic. Garry sang and played on many P=Funk classics, including "Cosmic Slop", "Up For The Downstroke", "Mothership Connection" and "One Nation Under a Groove". Mr. Shider was as well known for his stage attire, a diaper. as well as his soulful, church honed delivery. He was inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1997 and continued to tour and perform until being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
